All officers of foodgrain procurement agencies of Punjab namely PUNGRAIN, MARKFED, PUNSUP and Punjab State warehousing Corporation (PSWC) has proceeded on mass strike from today against the series of extraneous FIRs lodged by the vigilance bureau, Punjab.
In a letter to the principal secretary, department of food and civil supplies, Punjab govt , all the officers of foodgrain procurement agencies of Punjab posted at head offices, divisional offices , district offices has highlighted their resentment against the highhandedness of vigilance bureau in registering irrelevant FIRs against the officers of foodgrain procurement agencies.
They highlighted the widespread feeling of officers of the foodgrain procurement agencies and employees of this sector that their efforts and achievements have never been given deserved recognition and appreciation. Still, they have been working to their fullest potential and capacity and the sector has been touching new heights.
They clear the air on the process of tenders and said the tendering process is done as per the tender policy through the authorized government portal in a transparent manner. Before being implemented on the ground the Labour, Cartage and Transportation policy is approved by the Punjab Cabinet. In the midst of the hype being created by such series of extraneous FIR related to the tendering process in different district, the basic purpose of transportation of food grains is being overlooked and ignored. Also, it is being falsely and misleadingly claimed that wrongful payments have been made to the contractors of transportation and cartage.
The Confederation of Officers of Punjab Foodgrain Agencies have demanded the cancellation of all FIRs in tendering process be cancelled immediately, No new FIR should be lodged, No officer should be nominated in the FIRs, No FIR should be lodged on the basis of mere suspicion, any other complaint received by the VB should be sent to the department, the enquiry initiated into the wooden carets by the VB from the last many years should be stopped.
All officers of Punjab Foodgrain agencies sounds ‘Strike’ bugle; proceeded on mass strike. An officer of the food supplies department while confirming the decision of Mass Strike added the remaining staff, inspectors association are also going to support us.
