A Three-Day National level Annual Techno-Cultural Festival “Polaris-2019” was inaugurated here today in the ground of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Bhawan. This fest is being organised by Computer Engineering Student Society (CESS) under the Department of Computer Engineering and Technology of Guru Nanak Dev University. Dr. Hardeep Singh, Dean, Student Welfare inaugurated the fest while Mr. Bobby Bhatia, CEO and Founder of TrakInvest was the special guest on this occasion.

Dr. Hardeep Singh, congratulated the students of CET department on organizing such an event and wished them good luck. He said such events are really encouraging and necessary for overall development of students. In his speech he included many important aspects on how students can improve their co- curricular skills in the progressive environment of Guru Nanak Dev University.

On this occasion, Bobby Bhatia, who graduated in Economics with Honours from Duke University, shared his valuable knowledge on one of the Emerging Technologies “Blockchain”.  He motivated the students to develop a vision in the field of Entrepreneurship and to rise above the notion that the only career option after graduation is getting placed.

Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Head of the Department welcomed the esteemed guest and appreciated the tireless efforts made by students at their level for the success of the event and wished them Good Luck. His speech emphasized on practical learning rather than simply cramming the academic work. According to him the students should be able to implement what they learn and make real life projects out of it.

There was excitement on every student’s face while dancing to the rhythm of DJ. There were various stalls of food and games to keep the entertainment high. Many events like super soccer, say it shayari, roadies, badminton smashers, balloon burst were successfully conducted.  Students not only enjoyed to the fullest but also were awarded with exciting prizes. The schedule for the next two days can be fetched on the official instagram handle of CESS iecess.gndu. To add to the zeal, on 18th October, 2019, alumni of CSE department PARWINDER SINGH, Stand-up comedian is going to perform his show in Dashmesh Auditoriurm. People can reach CESS team to get passes.
