Anurag Verma superseded 11 IAS officers to become Punjab’s chief secretary

Today, Punjab government has issue an appointment orders of Anurag Verma ,IAS of 1993 batch as the 42nd chief secretary of the state.
Presently Anurag Verma is the Additional Chief Secretary, Home Affairs & Justice and in addition Additional Chief Secretary, Legal and Legislative Affairs and in addition Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce and in addition Additional Chief Secretary, Information Technology and in addition Additional Chief Secretary, Investment Promotion and is going to replace incumbent chief secretary VK Janjua, who is going to retire on June 30,2023.
Anurag Verma superseded total 11 IAS officers to become Punjab’s chief secretary. Vini Mahajan, IAS (1987), Ravneet Kaur, IAS (1988), Anjali Bhawara, IAS (1988), Anirudh Tewari, IAS ( 1990), Vijoy Kumar Singh, IAS (1990), Anurag Aggarwal, IAS (1990), A Venu Prasad, IAS (1991), Seema Jain, IAS (1991), Sarvjit Singh, IAS (1992), Raji.P.Srivastava, IAS (1992), KAP Sinha, IAS (1992) are seniors to Anurag Verma, IAS of 1993 batch.
Out of these officers Vini Mahajan, IAS (1987), Ravneet Kaur, IAS (1988), Anjali Bhawara, IAS (1988), Vijoy Kumar Singh, IAS (1990) are on central deputation.
Anurag Verma superseded 11 IAS officers to become Punjab’s chief secretary. Out of these 11 IAS , three top officers are women officers who are senior to him. Punjab government has accorded special chief secretary status to seven officers senior to him and are working in Punjab.
Another senior IAS officers Anirudh Tewari, IAS ( 1990) is going to retire in April 2027, Vijoy Kumar Singh, IAS (1990) in November 2024, Anurag Aggarwal, IAS (1990) in March 2026, A Venu Prasad, IAS (1991) in July 2023, Seema Jain, IAS (1991) in December 2026, Saravjit Singh, IAS (1992) in July 2026, Raji P Srivastava, IAS (1992) in July 2029, KAP Sinha, IAS (1992) in December 2027. Whereas the new chief secretary Anurag Verma, IAS (1993) is going to retire in July 2029.
As per the new orders, Verma would also hold the additional charge of Principal Secretary Personnel as well as Vigilance along with the Chief Secretary.
