Today, early morning, at around 1 am a Rocket Launcher (RPG) attack by miscreants has happened at police station Sarhali in Tarn Taran district on Amritsar-Bathinda National Highway-54.
According to the police, unknown miscreants fired a rocket-launcher-type weapon at the police station in Sarhali from the National Highway 54 (ASR-Bathinda) owing to which the inside wall, mirrors of the doors of sanjh kendra and a door scroll were broken. The possibility of an RPG being pushed from across for attack is not being ruled out at the initial stage.
As per police sources, a terror angle has not been ruled in this attack on the Tarn Taran police station. All the central investigating agencies – National Investigation Agency (NIA), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) has been apprised of the development.
Earlier in May 2022 a similar RPG attack was done at Punjab police intelligence headquarters at Mohali. Punjab police has already solved this case.
Are gangs avenging with SSP? Another RPG attack of Punjab police building in Punjab. At present one of the key members of Punjab police anti gangster task force (AGTF) and organized crime control unit (OCCU) Gurmit Singh Chuhan has been deputed as senior superintendent of police (SSP), Tarn Taran. He remained active in neutralizing the gangestism in the state before being appointed as SSP Tarn Taran, recently.
He has been awarded with President police medal for gallantry (PMG) for neutralizing Punjab’s most wanted gangster Harjinder Singh alias Vicky Gounder , on Republic Day in 2018. He was heading the operation as OCCU member. Punjab police was chasing Gounder since 2016 Nabha jail break incident before neutralising him in 2018. He also played key role in cracking Sidhu Moosewala’s murder case.
This act of miscreants, gangsters might be a threaten message to Chuhan, who is on their radar.
