Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday took on the opposition directly at a Lok Milni in Ghogra, Dasuya constituency of Hoshiarpur district, declaring that as long as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is in power, women will continue receiving their Sanmaan Raashi and free electricity. He vowed that the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026, which makes beadbi punishable with life imprisonment, has permanently closed the chapter on sacrilege that the opposition, had it any honest intentions, would have shut long ago.

Hitting out at the Akali Dal for drowning Punjab in drugs and at all opposition parties for manufacturing daily propaganda to defame the state, the Chief Minister said the only difference between his government and those that came before is simple: public money now goes to the public, not into the pockets of leaders.

Addressing the Lok Milni, at Dasuya Hoshiarpur , CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “Envious of the unprecedented progress and prosperity of the state, the culprits of the state are unleashing malicious and unnecessary propaganda against me. These forces which are inimical to the development of the state and prosperity of its people are now stooping too low to defame me on frivolous issues. My life is an open book as I have dedicated my entire life for the welfare of Punjab and Punjabis and have been making strenuous efforts for this noble cause.”

He added, “The traditional parties have always treated people as their vote banks and had never bothered about their well being, and they are not able to digest this, due to which a tirade has been launched against me.”

Reiterating his commitment to development, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “These forces are now hell bent upon tarnishing my image with baseless, irrational, illogical and misleading propaganda due to which the people of the state will never forgive them. I have put my sweat and toil for ensuring unsurpassed development of the state and with every passing day we are taking several new pro people initiatives to uplift the standard of living of people.”

The Chief Minister further said, “Unlike the predecessors I have never sought even a single penny from the public exchequer; rather I have ensured that every single rupee of the taxpayers is spent judiciously for public welfare.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Being their son and brother I have keenly focused on sharing the agonies and hardships faced by them rather than living a life of opulence like my predecessors. None of the earlier rulers had come to people in such a manner to have thorough conversation about their hardships and resolve them with a missionary zeal.”

He added, “Those haughty politicians have always confined themselves in the high walls of their palatial palaces rather than meeting the people and are now baffled over every move of the state government.”

On governance approach, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “I have always been in the field to take feedback from the people for framing development oriented and citizen centric policies, thereby giving a major boost to the development of Punjab. This has upset the entire opposition who have joined their hands against me with a clear cut strategy to defame me by leveling false and irrational allegations.”

He added, “These forces are trying to sway away the people by creating a fake and derogatory narrative which will not be accepted by the people and these forces will be taught a lesson.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann asserted, “The wise people of the state are well aware of the dubious and treacherous character of these leaders of opposition and they will certainly teach a lesson to them. These cheap theatrics of the opposition can never deter me from service of the people of the state and I will continue to discharge this role till my last breath.”

He further said, “These parties have no agenda against the state government as the Punjab Government has taken several key decisions for public welfare.”

Launching a direct attack on the Akali Dal, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Every vote casted to Akalis will be vote in favor of beadbi of Sri Guru Sahib Sahib and Gurbani. They bruised the psyche of every individual through the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and ordered firing on the innocents in Behbal Kalan and Bargadi. They have also shown grave disrespect to Sri Akal Takht Sahib.”

He added, “The former Deputy Chief Minister claims that massive development of the state took place during their regime but turns blind eye towards Kotakpura, Behbal Kalan and others where sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib took place and innocents were killed.”

Taking a jibe, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The Punjab Bachao Yatra of Akali Dal is actually ‘Parivar Bachao Yatra’. After looting the state for 15 years, they must explain from whom they are trying to save the state from.”

He continued, “Akalis have plundered the state mercilessly besides bruising the psyche of Punjabis emotionally and patronizing several mafias in the state. The Akali leadership can never be forgiven as it was responsible for the genocide of several generations of the state as drug trade was patronized by them and bloomed during their long era of misrule.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann further said, “The Akalis should be booked for the genocide of generations as the drug trade was patronized by them and it flourished during their long misrule. The hands of these leaders are drenched with the blood of millions of youth who fell prey to the drug that was supplied in the state in their official vehicles. The sins of these leaders are unpardonable and they can never be forgiven by the people for their long saga of misdeeds.”

Highlighting legislative action, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “We are fortunate that God has bestowed upon us the responsibility to unanimously pass the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026, thereby stipulating harsher punishment for sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. This Act marks the end of desecration in future as it will ensure that no one will ever dare to indulge in such heinous crime.”

He added, “The dastardly act of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji was a deep rooted conspiracy to disturb hard earned peace, amity, brotherhood and communal harmony in the state. This Act will ensure that anyone found guilty in this unpardonable offence will not be spared at any cost and exemplary action would be taken against them as a deterrent for others.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is the father of every Sikh and the state government is duty bound to ensure the safety of this holy granth. People from across the globe are happy and I am daily receiving a number of calls from people who thank me for this historic Act.”

Coming down heavily on the Akali leadership, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “These are opportunist leaders who change their colors and their stance like a chameleon as per their convenience and vested political interests. Everyone knows that this family was a stooge of Britishers and was conferred the title of Sir by them for hobnobbing against the patriots who fought for the country.”

He added, “The family had feted General Dyer, the perpetrator of Jallianwala Bagh massacre on April 13, 1919, by hosting a dinner for him after this heinous incident. This act exposed their anti-national and anti-Punjab mindset and character.”

He further said, “Not only this, the family also ensured that General Dyer was bestowed siropa and forgiveness at Golden Temple. It is even more shocking that Jathedar Arood Singh, the one who had granted the siropa, was the maternal grandfather of former Lok Sabha MP Simarjit Singh Mann.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann asserted, “History cannot be wiped out and the dubious characters of Badal’s ancestors are etched on the pages of history. The hands of this family are drenched with the blood of the patriots and their role in backstabbing the nationalists can never be forgotten.”

Targeting the Congress, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “In Congress every leader is aspiring to become the head of the state and they have more CMs rather than ordinary workers to work in the polls. The Congress party is a divided house that will collapse due to their infighting.”

He added, “In the ensuing elections of the state assembly slated in 2027, the people will have the option to select three pens.”

Explaining further, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The first pen is Congress with red ink which symbolizes attack on Sri Harmandir Sahib, riots of 1984 and other anti-Sikh and anti-Punjab stances. The second pen is of Akalis which has only one ink which has conducted desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. The third pen is that of AAP which is transforming Punjab into Rangla Punjab by taking path breaking initiatives every passing day.”

Highlighting governance achievements, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The tax money of people belongs to the state and we are judiciously spending it on the welfare of people. People’s money is coming back to people through development, schools, hospitals and roads.”

He added, “We have provided free electricity to 90% households, given jobs to over 65,000 youth without corruption, improved roads, closed toll plazas saving ₹70 lakh daily, and are building infrastructure.”

He further said, “At the time when we assumed office only 22% canal water was being used in the state for irrigation purposes.”

Emphasising social reform, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “No freebie or concession cards can eliminate poverty or other social maladies but education is the key that can pull people out of this vicious circle by raising their standard of living. Education is the light that illuminates the world by dispelling darkness and that is why we are laying special thrust on it.”

He added, “Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna has been launched under which health cards are being issued to all 65 lakh families in Punjab and every family is entitled to free treatment up to ₹10 lakh. Over 30 lakh beneficiaries have already received health cards.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann further said, “1.65 lakh people have received free treatment under this scheme and I urge people to take maximum benefit of these cards.”

He added, “For the first time in the history of the state more than eight hours of uninterrupted power has been supplied to farm tube wells during paddy season. Farmers are now receiving electricity during the daytime for irrigation for the first time, which has transformed their lives.”

On women empowerment, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Under Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, ₹1000 per month is being given to other categories women and ₹1500 to SC category women above 18 years.”

He added, “This is not a political function but a source of interaction with the masses. Several governments came and went but none bothered about the well being of people. These parties played a game of musical chairs and plundered the wealth of the state, but people voted for the broom which has transformed schools, hospitals and other sectors.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The Akali leader is begging for one chance from the people despite being given five chances earlier. Instead of serving people, they looted the state and were shown the door.”

The Chief Minister added, “These parties are waiting for their turn to plunder the wealth of the state again, which is their only motive to attain power.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “These people are never bothered about the state or its people and their only aim is to satiate their lust for power by misusing the government. These opportunist leaders are baffled as people are not giving them any response and their agenda is confined to the welfare of their families.”

He further said, “These parties ruled for long but due to their incompetence and misrule people elected the Aam Aadmi Party which is working tirelessly for them. Traditional parties are envious because we have set the agenda of welfare of the common man.”

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann added, “These parties used to play musical chairs in power and waited for their turn to plunder people and the country. Sukhbir Singh Badal is a convent educated political leader of Punjab who is not aware of the basic topography of the state but still wants to attain political power.”
