Today, under the leadership of Comrades R. Srinivasmurthy, K. Ramchandra Nair, R. Nithyanandan, and A. Kumaravelu, the Coordination Committee meeting for Class 1, 3 & 4 and the General Insurance Retirees Association (GIRA) was held in Chennai.

“We were honored by the presence of Comrade Trilok Singh, General Secretary GIEAIA, and Com. Darshan Kumar Wadhwa, Secretary General GIEAIA CLASS-1, as special guests” said A.Kumaravelu General Secretary, (GIEAIA South zone)

“Over a hundred representatives from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Pondicherry, representing nine regional committees – Bangalore, Hubballi, Salem, Hyderabad, Vizag, Chennai, Kerala, Madurai, Trichy, and Coimbatore – actively participated. They engaged in serious deliberations on issues affecting employees, officers, pensioners, ex-employees, and the retirees” said John Paul, Secretary General, GIEAIA, Class 1wing, South Zone.

The assembly unanimously formed a co-ordination Zonal Committee consisting of 61 Executive Members from all Regional Committees for the Southern Zone, issuing a call to intensify collective efforts to achieve the following:

Merger of the four PSGI companies

Expedite pending wage revision

Uniform family pension  @ of 30%

Adequate recruitment in all cadres

Strengthening of PSGICs

Recognition of GIEAIA

Pension updation

Addressing issues for SVRS employees

Ensuring pension for all and justice for employees affected by resignation and anomalies

Enhancement of sum insured in staff mediclaim insurance.

Timely redressel of Grievances from HITPA.

The leadership emphasized that without opposition to privatization and disinvestment policies, it is impossible to safeguard PSGICs or fulfill our legitimate demands. Therefore, a decision was made to educate and encourage leaders, members, and former members to remain committed to the core principles of GIEAIA.

“We urge the entire GIEAIA leadership to raise awareness among employees, officers, and former colleagues, reinforcing our collective resolve to advance this important movement” said R Nithyanandan, General Secretary, General insurance Retirees Association (GIRA South Zone).
