Er. Des Raj Bangar, Chief Engineer, Border Zone, Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL), Amritsar, has strongly condemned the recent attack on PSPCL employees who were on duty to check and replace faulty electricity meters in Fairland Colony, Amritsar, on January 4.

In a statement issued today, Er. Bangar explained that Kuldip Kumar, JE at PSPCL Gopal Nagar Sub-Division, Amritsar, along with his team, had been deputed to carry out a special drive to address energy meters that had been defective since 2022 in Fairland Colony.

During this drive, the team replaced the energy meter of consumer Kanwaljit Singh. While Kuldip Kumar requested Kanwaljit Singh’s son to sign the Meter Change Order (MCO), he called his father, who works with the Police Department in Majitha. Subsequently, both Kanwaljit Singh and his son physically attacked JE Kuldip Kumar and Lineman Kulwant Singh.

The incident was promptly reported to the police, and an FIR (No. 0001, dated 6/1/25) has been registered against the accused. Er. Bangar expressed deep concern over the fear and insecurity this incident has caused among PSPCL employees.

“Such incidents are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The safety and security of PSPCL employees are our top priorities,” said Er. Bangar.

While appreciating the registration of the FIR, Er. Bangar stressed that it is not sufficient. He urged police authorities to take swift action and immediately arrest the accused involved in the attack. “Timely action will ensure justice for the affected employees and help restore confidence among the PSPCL workforce,” he added.
