Babla elected Mayor: BJP overrules AAP, Congress alliance in Chandigarh Mayoral poll

Due to alleged cross voting, Harpreet Kaur Babla of BJP has been elected as Mayor of City Beautiful defeating the combined candidate of AAP-Congress Prem Lata by 2 votes.
Jasbir Bunty of Congress elected senior deputy mayor of Chandigarh. He defeated BJP’s Bimla Dubey by 2 votes. Bunty polled 19 votes where as Dubey polled 17 votes.
Similarly, AAP-Congress candidate Taruna Mehta won the deputy mayor seat. She defeated BJP candidate Jasbir Singh. Mehta defeated Jasbir Singh by 2 votes.
In the 35-member house of the Chandigarh MC, the AAP has 13 councillors and its ally Congress has six, meanwhile the BJP has 16 councillors
