Bar association comes in support of arrested judge; announces suspension of work

District Bar Association of Panchkula,Haryana has condemned the arrest of Sudhir Parmar, the former special CBI and ED judge posted in the special PMLA court in Panchkula and announced the suspension of their work on Monday August 14,2023 in support of cordial relations between Bar and Bench.
The association has issued a notice, condemning the act of enforcement directorate (ED), for illegally arresting the ADJ, Panchkula, Sudhir Parmar.
Sudhir Parmar took charge of the presiding officer of Special PMLA court and Special CBI judge at Panchkula in the third week of November, 2021.
As per available information, a court in Panchkula on Friday has sent the suspended judge Sudhir Parmar to six days of ED custody in a money laundering case . Parmar was produced before the Panchkula district court following his arrest under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act on Thursday.
The investigating agency had earlier arrested Parmar’s nephew Ajay Parmar, two promoters of of real estate company M3M — Basant Bansal and Pankaj Bansal — and Lalit Goyal, owner and MD of another realty group IREO, in a case.
According to the ACB FIR, the ED had said, reliable information was received that Sudhir Parmar was showing “favouritism” to the accused, namely Roop Kumar Bansal, his brother Basant Bansal and IREO’s Lalit Goyal in the criminal cases of the ED and other cases of the CBI pending against them in his court.
