Bathinda district Potential Linked Credit Plan (PLP) for the year 2020-21 launched

The District Consultative Committee for September 2019 quarter was convened under the Chairmanship of Paramvir Singh, IAS, ADC(D). The Potential Linked Credit Plan (PLP) for Bathinda District for the year 2020-21 was launched by Paramvir Singh, IAS, ADC(D), in the presence of senior officials of district administration, RBI, NABARD, Lead Bank, DIC, NRLM, NULM, SC Corporation, Dairy Dept, DCOs and other bankers.

Singh informed that the total credit potential under priority sector for 2020-21 has been estimated at Rs. 11,193 crore for the district. The exercise of PLP preparation is being undertaken by NABARD since 1989-90 for all districts of the country with an objective to assess exploitable potential through credit dispensation under various sectors. He also expressed concern about the low growth in Long-Term credit in Agriculture even though progress under Crop Loan has been satisfactory. He also emphasized on increased need of financing Allied Agricultural activities for enhancing farmers’ income and extending loans to SHGs / JLGs and various schemes for generating self-employment opportunities and enhancing the incomes of the people.

DDM NABARD, Amit Garg informed the house that PLP is prepared systematically adopting participative and consultative approach, involving various stake holders in the agriculture and rural development as per the priority sector guidelines issued by the RBI. Further, he informed that potential in PLP is based upon Scale of Finance and approved unit cost.

Raghubir Singh, RBI also emphasized on the need of organizing at least one Financial literacy programme per bank branch in rural areas.

Jai Shankar Sharma, Lead District Manager, discussed the various point wise agenda of the DCC meeting and insisted the bankers to increase the lending especially under Government Sponsored Schemes in Bathinda district.

Stalinjit Singh, NRLM, Devraj, Dairy Dept, G D Goyal, RSETI were also present in the meeting apart from senior bankers of the district.
