Best Punjabi Book Awards for the year 2025 announced by Punjab Language Department

Under the Best Book Awards presented by the Punjab Government to books in Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu languages every year through the Language Department, Punjab, the department has announced the Best Punjabi Book Awards (2025) for Punjabi language.

In this regard, Director, Language Department, Punjab Jaswant Singh Zafar, informed that these awards will be presented during the state-level inaugural function of Punjabi Month in the first week of November 2025 at Bhasha Bhawan, Patiala. He said that for these awards, books published during the previous year were sought for the Best Punjabi Book Awards and these books were evaluated by scholars from various fields and the best books were selected. This award will carry a plaque and a shawl along with prize money of Rs. 31,000/-. It is worth mentioning that these awards will be given to the 10 best Punjabi books related to different genres of Punjabi language published in the year 2024. Total 273 books of different genres were received for these awards.

Under the Best Punjabi Book Awards announced, the Bhai Vir Singh Award (Biography/Autobiography/Memoirs/Rekha Chittar) was given to Gurinderjit’s book ‘Barf’ Ch Uge Amaltas’, the Nanak Singh Award (Novel) was given to Jasvir Singh Rana’s book ‘70% Prem Katha’, Principal Sujan Singh Award (Story/Mini Story Collection) to Bhagwant Rasulpuri’s book ‘Delivery Man’, Gurbaksh Singh Preetlari Award (Essay/Travelogue/Satire) to Dr. Paramjit Dhingra’s book ‘Kitaab Jo Ajay Baki Hai’, Giani Gurmukh Singh Musafir Award (Poetry) to Shameel’s book ‘Teg’, Prof. Gurdial Singh Award (Translation) to Subhash Bhaskar’s book ‘Anwandeya Punjab (Dr. Chandra Trikha)’, M.S. Randhawa Award (Gian Sahit/Sampadan) to Amiya Kunwar’s book ‘Imroznama’, Sri Guru Harkrishan Award (Children’s Literature) to Dr. Inderpreet Singh Dhami’s book ‘Supansaaz’, Dr. Atar Singh Award (Criticism) to Gurdeep Singh’s book ‘Eh Des Punjab Di Samj Nahin’ And the Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha Award (Tikakaari/Lexicography/Linguistics/Grammar/Reference Book) will be presented to Jagtar Singh Sokhi’s book ‘Punjabi Samaanarthak Kosh’.

Best Punjabi Book Awards for the year 2025 announced by Language Department Punjab

Jaswant Singh Zafar said that the best book awards of different languages given by the department every year will be given during the Punjabi month celebrations. The remaining awards of Hindi, Urdu and Sanskrit will be announced soon. He congratulated all the award winners and appealed to them to continue their efforts for the promotion of Punjabi language.
