Bringing public participation into reducing traffic offences, Patiala Police have re launched an Android mobile app ‘Patiala Traffic Police Mobile App’which can be used by the public to report visible traffic violations to the police. The Traffic police have re launched e challan system, after it was launched earlier, around two years back, with the newly amended Motor Vehicle Act.

SP (Traffic) Patiala Palwinder Singh Chemma has asked the residents to down load Patiala Traffic Police Mobile App from the google play store, in any android phone. After downloading the app, the residents will be able to know the traffic related status, problems like traffic jams, along highlighting the traffic violations by the public.

Using the app, now public can report visible traffic violations such as riding two-wheeler without using helmet, riding triple, using cellphone while driving, jumping signal, driving four wheeler without seat belt, four wheeler using black glasses, wrong parking along with other traffic violations, by sending the photo with  clear number plate of the violator to the police, by using the traffic police app. The registration number of the vehicle involved in the violation must be legible in the photo.

Once a traffic violation is successfully submitted, an electronic challan will be generated by the traffic police which will have the photo of the violation and the fine to be paid.

He further said that if needed, more traffic police personnel’s will be deployed, for the smooth functioning of the traffic.

We have issued clear instructions to our traffic wing to create awareness about the traffic police app and are holding awareness classes for students highlighting the need to follow traffic rules. Till date around 5000 people have already downloaded the mobile app.
