Bhakra dam further raises the gate height, releasing more water into the Satluj

As per reports, Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has further increase the height of flood gates and now they are open at 8 feet . The BBMB authorities and has also announces to increase the release of water from 65000 cusec to 75000 cusec  .

As per BBMB’s plan 75000 cusec of water will be released from spillways (gates)and turbines. Out of these 57000 cusec of water will go downstream into river Satluj and rest 9000 cusec each will be released in the canals.

Today, the level in the Bhakra Dam’s reservoir, Gobind Sagar Lake is recorded at 1677.84 feet. The maximum level fixed the BBMB authorities is 1680. But earlier it was 1690 feet.It also has four spillway gates that are only used when the reservoir exceeds the maximum allowed level.

Authorities has issued alerts in the villages near the river Satluj along with districts including Ropar, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar.
