Big boost to JGND Punjab State Open University, UGC sanctioned one Crore grant-in-aid-VC

University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi has sanctioned one Crore grant-in-aid for Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University (JGND PSOU), Patiala.
As per Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education, Govt. of India, JGND PSOU has been awarded this Grant-in-Aid for development under the budget head “Assistance to IGNOU & SOUs”.
Prof Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, JGND PSOU said, “ Punjab State Open University is one of the nine State Open Universities (SOUs) across India being benefitted by UGC’s special grant.
This grant will strengthen Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system of the beneficiaries. The sanctioned amount will be utilized for developing MOOCs, course material, ICT, Quality Assurance Measures and Networking of Distance Education system.” “Specifically designated for academic development, this grant will enable JGND PSOU to provide the best of education to the learners,” he added.
JGND PSOU is one of the 14 State Open Universities in India. The University offers PG, UG programmes and certificate courses in two admission cycles (January & July). Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Founder Vice-Chancellor, Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala (JGND PSOU) has set the University on a progressive path with best of practices.
Under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Karamjeet Singh, JGND PSOU has implemented unique initiatives of University Grants Commission (UGC) and Government of Punjab. These include special schemes for employees, teachers, Divyangjan and jail inmates (Sikhyadaat). The schemes implemented by the Vice Chancellor have benefited teaching and non-teaching staff across Punjab.
