Dharminder Singh Bhinda, President of the Jhadian Kalan Mandal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has raised serious concerns regarding a viral video and a related news report published on June 5, 2024. Bhinda called upon the police administration to conduct a fair investigation into the matter and bring clarity to avoid public confusion.
Bhinda referred to an incident from June 2024, when a red Brezza car was allegedly caught in the Rupnagar area carrying illegal liquor. A video surfaced on social media showing a man driving the said vehicle. According to Bhinda, the person seen in the video resembles someone from the village of Lalpur and bears a striking similarity to a leader of AAP,who is holding a public post. He made it clear, however, that he was not accusing anyone directly but merely pointing out a visible resemblance. “If this resemblance is not coincidental and the person in question is indeed the same, then the administration must publicly clarify whether any action has been taken or if an investigation is ongoing,” he said.
He emphasized that, while the state government runs campaigns like “War Against Drugs,” transparency is essential in such cases. “If the person seen in the video holds an important public post, the government must be held accountable and clarify the matter,” Bhinda stated.
He also referred to a local newspaper report from today, where the Chairman of the Improvement Trust reportedly accused BJP District President Ajayvir Singh Lalpura of politicizing road conditions post-rainfall. In response, Bhinda said, “The deteriorating condition of roads is not fiction; it’s a real issue people face every day. Speaking about it is not politics, it’s public service.”
Bhinda further insisted that if there is any visible similarity between the viral video and the appearance of person holding public post ,it should not be brushed under the carpet. Instead, the administration must investigate and make the truth public.
He also expressed concern over law and order issues in the district, including illegal mining. Referring to a recent alleged shootout involving the mining mafia, Bhinda questioned whether the administration and local MLA were taking such incidents seriously and if any action was being taken.
Praising BJP District President Ajayvir Singh Lalpura, Bhinda said, “Lalpura believes in public service more than politics. Through his organization, he has been actively helping the poor and needy. He is a grassroots leader, not just a stage speaker.” He criticized those who, out of narrow thinking, make baseless remarks against Lalpura. “The public knows who is genuinely working in their interest,” he added.
Bhinda appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to ensure a fair and transparent investigation into the viral video and associated reports. He demanded that the findings and any actions taken be made public in the interest of truth and accountability.
He was accompanied at the press conference by Himmat Singh Giran, Onkar Abiyana, Rakesh Chopra, among others.
