BJP District President Ajayvir Singh Lalpura Meets Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan, Raises Key Media Issues of Punjab

Ajayvir Singh Lalpura, President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rupnagar District, met with Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan, in a courtesy meeting. During the interaction, they held in-depth discussions on several crucial matters related to media freedom in Punjab, fair journalism, safety of regional journalists, and the future of digital media.
Lalpura highlighted the ground realities of Punjab, pointing out that regional journalists often face threats and undue pressure. He urged the Union Government to formulate a concrete policy to ensure the safety and protection of media professionals in the state.
Dr. Murugan, while engaging in the discussion, assured that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government is fully committed to upholding press freedom, journalists’ rights, and the growth of digital media. He emphasized that media is the fourth pillar of democracy and protecting it is both a moral and constitutional duty of the government.
Following this significant meeting, Ajayvir Singh Lalpura expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the Central Government, stating,
“Today’s India is not the one that suppresses the voice of journalists but empowers them. Under Modi’s leadership, the media has received more freedom and respect than ever before.”
He also acknowledged the Centre’s youth-centric policies in the digital media sector, which are offering new opportunities and direction. Lalpura thanked Dr. L. Murugan for taking the time to seriously discuss the sensitive media-related issues of Punjab.
He expressed confidence that the Union Government would continue to take even more effective steps in the near future for the safety, welfare, and empowerment of journalists and to strengthen the media landscape as a whole.
