Boating starts in Sirhind canal from Dastan-e-Shahadat

Rupnagar Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav started boating in Sirhind canal from Dastan-e-Shahadat museum at Chamkaur Sahib for the first time for the entertainment of pilgrims arriving during Hola Mohalla festival.
Dr. Preeti Yadav said that the district administration has arranged boating in Sirhindi canal especially for the pilgrims reaching Anandpur Sahib to promote water tourism. She said that this boating facility has been started for common people only for one week but soon boating will be done permanently at Rupnagar.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Punjab Government has launched Punjab Water Tourism Policy-2023 and Punjab Adventure Tourism Policy-2023 under Invest Punjab to bring the tourists face to face with the beautiful land surrounded by Shivalik hills..
She said that there is a bright future for tourism in Rupnagar district as this land is not only associated with the creation of Khalsa Panth, but it is also associated with Harappan civilisation.
Talking about the other advantages of Rupnagar district in tourism, she said that Indian and foreign tourists going to Himachal Pradesh and Jammu Kashmir pass through this district, for which water tourism and adventure tourism have been developed as a centre of attraction for tourists here.She said that if we talk about natural scenery, district Rupnagar can’t be compared anywhere in North India.
Dr. Preeti Yadav said that with the support of NDRF, this boating facility has been made possible on the occasion of Hola Mahalla and its ticket price has also been set at a very low price. Dastan-e-Shahadat to Bhoje Majre is Rs 100 for a single side and Rs 200 for a double side.
She said that during Hola Mohalla festival boating will continue from 8 am to 6 pm for the general public from March 3 to 8 from Sirhand Canal Bhoje Majra Bridge to Dastan e Shahadat, Sri Chamkaur Sahib. For boating bookings one can contact on mobile phone number 95011-14445.
Deputy Commissioner said that special arrangements have also been made for the safety of the people during this time. He said that the NDRF team will also be specially present during this time.
