#breakthebias event organized by Punjabi University CSE department

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, 8th March 2022, literary society of department of Computer science and engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala celebrated and organized #breakthebias event.

The Head of the department, Dr Raman Maini addressed the audience and talked about the event in which students and teachers actively took part. The chief guest, Dr Regina Maini, Senior Medical Officer of Bhai Ghaniya Health Center, Punjabi University, Patiala, discussed about the problems faced by women in the society while addressing the audience. She stressed on providing good academic opportunities to the girl child.

The guest of honor, Dr Lakhwinder Kaur talked about the role of women in the society. On the day various events were organized under #breakthebias, one of which was speech competition on the topic of #breakthebias judged by Dr Kulpinder Sharma and Dr Ritu. The first position was bagged by Pragya, Karan Kaushal came second and Vanshika Ghai stood third.

Other than this other events like Dumb Charades, Blind Makeover, Crack the code, Pen the paladin and Word Frog were organized as well. In the valedictory function, the chief guest Dr Ajita, additional provost, addressed the audience and cited very good examples of the women playing important roles in the society and also distributed prizes to the winners. The president of the literary society, Dr Sikander Singh Cheema welcomed all the guests and shared his views on the importance of education in the life of a woman. The coordinator of the literary society, Dr Navneet Kaur addressed the audience and thanked everyone who were a part of the event and made it successful.

Gurseerat Kaur (student), general secretary of the society also talked about the status of women in society and how there should be cerebral equality among men and women. The student members of the literary society made this event a resounding success with their hard work.
