The Annual Prize Distribution Function of Govt Bikram College of Commerce was held on 25th April 2025 with great enthusiasm and fervour. The event was dedicated to the celebration of 80 years of Academic Excellence. The event was organized under the able guidance and leadership of the college Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Kusum Lata.
The college was honoured to welcome Pravin Chandra Prasad, Regional Manager, SBI, R.B.O.3, Patiala, as the Chief Guest and Chaman Kumar Saroa, Chief Manager, SBI, R.B.O.3, Patiala as the Guest of Honour for the event. His presence added great value and motivation to the celebration. The program commenced with the auspicious Jot Ceremony, followed by the traditional College Dhuni, which represents the spiritual and cultural heritage of the institution. A silence of two minutes was observed in memory of those killed in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
The Chief Guest was given a green welcome-a symbolic gesture that shows the commitment of the college to sustainability and eco-consciousness. He was presented with a live plant, representing growth, harmony, and a greener future.
The Annual Report was presented by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Kusum Lata. She elaborated on the academic, cultural, and extracurricular achievements of the institution, highlighting the numerous accomplishments of both students and faculty throughout the year. Her report reflected the college’s consistent efforts towards academic excellence, holistic student development, and community service.
Nine Awards of Honour were bestowed upon students who achieved merit in academics. The Roll of Honour was presented to a student in the Sports category for his outstanding performance in chess. 05 College Colours were awarded to students for their significant contributions and participation in NSS (National Service Scheme), sports, and cultural activities. A total of 107 Merit Certificates were distributed among students who performed exceptionally well in their respective fields. 58 Appreciation Certificates were awarded to students who demonstrated sincere effort and remarkable progress in various categories. The day was also chosen for the release of prospectus for the session 2025-26.
The Chief Guest, Regional Manager, Pravin Chandra Prasad, in his address, expressed deep admiration for the overall development and vibrant spirit of the college. He applauded the relentless efforts of the principal, faculty, and students, and emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between academics and extracurricular pursuits.
The event was gracefully conducted by Dr. Parmjit Singh and Dr. Reetu Kapoor, who served as the stage anchors.
The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Jaspreet Kaur (Registrar House Examination), who extended heartfelt gratitude to SBI that has sponsored the program. The Chief Guest, the Guest of Honour, the Principal, the faculty, the students, and all other dignitaries who contributed in making the Annual Prize Distribution Function a successful event.
