Celebrations of 75th Independence Day at AIIMS Bathinda

The 75th Independence Day was celebrated with due respect and compliance to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bathinda. Dr. Prof. Dinesh Kumar Singh, the first executive director, chaired the 2nd Independence Day celebrations of the academic Institution. The day’s program started with a plantation drive and more than 100 plants were planted in the campus. This was followed by hoisting of the national flag, and national anthem. Subsequently, cultural events were organized, where the students and the staff participated enthusiastically. A book written on library science, by librarian Anil Gehlot was unveiled by the Director and other senior faculty members of the college.
Prof. Singh concluded the program with his speech, where he appreciated the staff of hospital about for their hard work during the Covid-19 pandemic struggle. He also motivated institutional workforce to contribute with their full potential in the war against COVID-19, with special mention of the supporting staff. He welcomed 12 new doctors who have joined AIIMS Bathinda at various posts on regular basis. The doctors come from different specialities and super-specialities, like Dr. Mayank, Dr. Shashank, Dr. Gopal, Dr. Jyoti in deptt. of anaesthesia, Dr. Sushant, Dr. Seerat in Deptt of Transfusion medicine. Dr. Rohit Walia (Cardiology), Dr. Shivani Sidhana (Endocrinology), Dr. Suresh Goyal (General Surgery), Dr. Altaaf, Dr. Rajesh Maurya (Burns and Plastic Surgery), and Dr. Seetanshu in Department of Dermatology. Dr. Singh said that joining by these doctors will highly benefit the residents of Bathinda and adjoining districts. He also urged the citizens of Bathinda to get themselves vaccinated and follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviour till we win this fight against this pandemic.
