Central university of Punjab becomes trendsetter; launches advanced learning management system

To enhance the quality of online learning experience amid COVID-19 times, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) has launched Learning Management System (LMS) which will not only help the students who are residing in the remotest part of the country but also to teachers for reaching students beyond the classrooms. CUPB is the first University of Punjab and ninth in the Country to successfully launch the Learning Management System. The launching of an advanced CUP-LMS happened under the guidance and mentorship of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari.

On this occasion, Prof. Dhirendra Pal Singh, Chairman, University Grants Commission, while launching the LMS as the Chief Guest, appreciated Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tiwari for his valuable contributions in the higher education sector as a member of UGC & NAAC, and hoped that under his leadership, this university will achieve new benchmarks in the field of higher education. He also appreciated the significant contribution of the Central University of Punjab, for attaining 87th rank in NIRF Rankings. He congratulated all the teachers and employees of CUPB for contributing significantly for the all-round growth of the University. He shared that the vision of NEP-2020 is to develop responsible global citizen who will be connected with our ancient values, adopt an innovative approach, and implement sustainable development practices to realize the vision of self-reliant Bharat. He desired CUPB to set new benchmarks in the higher education sector and emerge as a role model for other universities in the region.

Prof. J.P. Singh Joorel stated that INFILBNET team is committed to develop advanced Learning Management System to provide a dynamic teaching-learning platform to education institutions during this pandemic situation. He shared that CUP-LMS would provide interactive options for concept-discussion, assignment submission, and video conferencing to ensure real-time classroom experience to students. In addition, this portal would also help teachers to evaluate the progress of students with the help of various evaluation options. He also mentioned that INFILBNET is closely working with CUPB on various innovative projects that will bring revolution in the field of education and research and this is just a beginning.

While sharing the details of CUP-LMS, Prof. Tiwari, VC, CUPB, informed that this platform would provide authenticated e-learning contents related to E-PG Pathshala, UGC MOOCs, and OERs to be developed by CUPB faculty to ensure immersive learning experience to our students. He expressed indebtedness towards the UGC & INFILBNET for extending necessary support for the development of this platform in the best interest of students amidst the current pandemic situation.  He appealed to the faculty members and students to ensure the fullest use of LMS. He stated that the introduction of CUP-LMS would add strength to the University’s commitment to creating new knowledge in academic disciplines, designing systems for continuous learning, and to make quality education accessible to all.  He emphasized that the launching of CUP-LMS will help us to implement all imperatives of NEP-2020 in our University & provide 24*7 teaching-learning support during COVID-19 times to our students from 28 states of India. He added, that high-quality digital content provided through this platform will spread positive vibes of CUPB across the globe and will set a roadmap towards excellence by setting new standards in the field of online education. Prof. Tiwari stated that CUPB is committed to implementing all new imperatives of Bharat Centric National Education Policy in the field of higher education in letter and spirit. He expressed his gratitude to Prof. Dhirendra Pal Singh, Chairman, University Grants Commission, for sparing valuable time for launching the LMS and also for thought-provoking and inspiring address. He also thanked Prof. J.P. Singh Joorel, Director, INFLIBNET and the Guest of Honour for his support and gracious presence during the programme.
