Central University of Punjab celebrated 72th Republic Day

Central University of Punjab celebrated 72th Republic Day of India on 26th January 2021 with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. On this occasion,Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari unfurled the National Flag of India & University Flag at C.U.P. Ghudda Campus. This was accompanied by the singing of National Anthem and University Anthem. After the Flag Hoisting Ceremony, and Inspection of Parade, the Vice-Chancellor communicated Republic Day Greetings to everyone.
While addressing the participants, Vice Chancellor Prof Tiwari highlighted that GOI’s focus on social need-based research has played an important role in the creation of two Made in India Vaccine that has provided effective in fighting against COVID-19 pandemic. He added, we feel proud that India has exported this Vaccine to other countries to promote the message of Vishv Bandhutv (Universal Brotherhood) and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (World is One Family). He asserted that the whole world would achieve 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development only when we will live our life in harmony with nature and our education & research institutes will focus on conducting research towards adopting sustainable development lifestyle.
He mentioned that National Education Policy 2020 (NEP-2020) focuses on creating the student-centric education system, providing wider opportunities for learning, promoting interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies and offering value-based holistic education to develop Global Citizens who will contribute towards building Self-Reliant India. He stated that Central University of Punjab is committed to implement all imperatives of NEP-2020, impart holistic education, create research-based new knowledge and promote the teachings of Gurus and social reformers from the state of Punjab. Prof. Tiwari exhorted everyone to strengthen Indian democracy by staying united and respecting each other. He urged youngsters to act as a responsible citizen and avoid committing seven social sins described by Mahatma Gandhi Ji.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Prof. V.K. Garg, Dean Student Welfare, Prof. Anjana Munshi, Dean Research, K.P.S. Mundra, Registrar, faculty and staff members and students of the University.
