Central University of Punjab Extends Warm Welcome to New Students through Two-Day Induction Programme 2023–24

With the commencement of the New Academic Session, the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB), demonstrated its commitment to welcoming incoming students by organizing a comprehensive two-day Student Induction Programme from August 22 to 23, 2023.    The purpose of this programme is to help students acclimatize with new surroundings, develop bond with fellow students and teachers, and establishing a conducive atmosphere for a fruitful teaching-learning experience. Over 700 first-year students from different corners of the country, who have secured admissions into various PG Programmes at CU Punjab spanning sciences, humanities, and social sciences disciplines, actively participated in this Induction Programme.

Extending a warm welcome to the newly admitted students, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice-Chancellor, mentioned that university administration is committed to provide homely environment to students and deliver quality education aimed at fostering holistic personality development. He encourages students to embrace the opportunities that university offers to accomplish their chosen goals.

Commencing the event, Prof. R.K. Wusirika, Dean Incharge Academics, greeted the newly enrolled students and acquainted them with the extensive array of teaching, learning, and research facilities available at the university. Prof. Wusirika detailed the course structure, academic regulations, and the availability of diverse academic and non-academic services.

Prof. B.P. Garg, Controller of Examinations and Registrar (I/c) elucidated the university’s Feedback & Evaluation and Examination & Result mechanisms. He emphasized that the entire admission process of the university is conducted online to uphold transparency. Prof. Garg guided students on accessing various essential forms available on the university website for availing different student-related services.

Prof. Monisha Dhiman, Director, IQAC, delved into discussions about the counselling and mentoring structure, the comprehensive training and placement support, and the internal grievance redressal system offered by CUPB. Prof. Anjana Munshi, Director R& D Cell, shared an overview of the dissertation submission process and the research infrastructure available at the university.

On the second day, Prof. Sanjeev Thakur, Dean Student Welfare, and his team elucidated the accommodations in the hostel, mess, and canteen facilities. He also highlighted the Anti Ragging Policy in place at CU Punjab. The induction programme provided students with insights into extracurricular activities including NSS activities, Sports, and Cultural events conducted at the university. They were also informed about procedures for utilizing facilities at the University Library, Computer Centre, Central Instrumentation Laboratory, Health and Fitness Centre.

Following the induction programme, departmental-level mentoring and peer interaction sessions were conducted to facilitate newcomers in swiftly adapting to the novel academic environment. This initiative aimed to help incoming students become acquainted with various aspects of academic and social life within the campus.
