Central University of Punjab Secures a Place among the ‘Top 100 Universities of India’ in NIRF for the Sixth Consecutive Time

In its continuous pursuit of excellence in education and research, the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CU Punjab), has marked a significant achievement by securing the 83rd rank in the “University Category” of the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings 2024. The university has improved its rank by 17 places this year compared to last year’s (NIRF 2023) rank of 100. Additionally, the university has made notable progress by obtaining the 23rd rank in the “Pharmacy Category.

The NIRF 2024 results were announced on Monday by the Honorable Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan. Notably, CU Punjab has maintained its position among the “Top 100 Universities of India” for six consecutive years. The university demonstrated considerable improvement in the “University Category,” with its score increasing from 42.93 (NIRF 2023) to 47.11 (NIRF 2024).

The NIRF rankings assess higher educational institutions across the country based on five key parameters: Teaching Learning and Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practices (RPP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach & Inclusivity (OI), and Perception. CU Punjab also secured a position within the “Rank-band 100-150” in the Overall Category of NIRF India Rankings 2024.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari expressed his deep satisfaction with CU Punjab’s continued success in the NIRF rankings. He conveyed his happiness over the Central University of Punjab’s achievement in securing a place among the ‘Top 100 Universities of India’ for the sixth consecutive year and significantly improving its performance by 17 points, attaining the 83rd rank in the NIRF India Rankings 2024.

He extended his heartfelt congratulations to all faculty members, officers, non-teaching staff, and, most importantly, the students, research scholars, and other stakeholders of the university for their dedication and contributions that made this accomplishment possible. Prof. Tiwari especially commended the outstanding work of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Natural Products and the Department of Pharmacology, which played a significant role in securing a position among the top 25 Pharmacy Institutions in the NIRF Ranking’s Pharmacy category for the third time.

Looking ahead, Prof. Tiwari reaffirmed the university’s unwavering commitment to enhancing its performance across all NIRF parameters in the coming years. He called upon the entire CU Punjab community to continue their efforts with renewed vigor and enthusiasm to achieve even greater success in the future. He set a target to position CU Punjab among the top 50 universities in the near future. Dr. Vijay Sharma, Registrar, also congratulated the university family for this important achievement.
