Chandigarh officer arrested by CBI for accepting bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Station Fire Officer posted at Fire Station, Sector-38, Chandigarh for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. 30,000/- from the Complainant.
A case was registered against Station Fire Officer posted at Fire Station, Sector-38, Chandigarh on a complaint. It was alleged that the complainant had applied for Fire Safety Certificate on 25.04.2022 for an SCO situated in Sector-36D, Chandigarh on behalf of his client after getting authorization. It was further alleged that after 4-5 inspections of site, the accused had not submitted his report of fire safety to Chief Fire Officer and due to which no Fire Safety Certificate was issued to applicant till date. When complainant requested him to submit his report to CFO, the accused allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs.30,000/- for the said purpose.
CBI laid a trap and caught the Station Fire Officer red handed while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. 30,000/- from Complainant.
Searches were conducted at residential and office premises of accused were conducted which led to recovery of certain documents.
The arrested accused will be produced today before the Competent Court at Chandigarh.
