With the change of guard in the state, the state Public Relations department has ordered the removal of all publicity material the state having the picture of former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
In an order issued to Punjab govt departments, state public relations department has instructed them to remove all the hoardings, ads having the photo of Capt Amarinder Singh. The department were told to ensure the speedy and strict implementation of the orders.
The posters list the “achievements” of the Amarinder-led government in its four years tenure such as waiving farm loans, launching the drug abuse prevention officers (DAPO) programme, drug seizures and crackdown on the trade of spurious food items as part of the ‘Tandarust Punjab’ mission, shagun scheme, increase in pension, cheap electricity, police helpline number, ghar ghar rozgar, compensation to martyrs, school education, benefits for farmers, industries etc.” were pasted on hoardings, unipols, throughout the state.
The government even had pasted the publicity material on state owned PRTC buses, keeping in mind the upcoming assembly elections.
The state public relations department has issued instructions to the managing director of PRTC to ask his general managers of all depots to remove the publicity material from all the buses.

As per an official of the state public relations department, on the condition of anonymity said “ the Punjab govt is removing the publicity material as the new government has announced and are going to announce some the new schemes, in coming days. The department will publicise that schemes .Some of the schemes might remain unchanged, but the new artwork with new CM’s photo will be placed on these hoardings, unipoles etc. at the earliest.
