Chess World Cup Final: first game between GM Pragg & world Number one GM Magnus Carlsen remained evenly matched-BS Sandhu

Yesterday, 18 year old Indian prodigy GM Praggnanandhaa outlasted highly rated world Number 3, American GM Fabiano Caruana in a battle of wits in a nerve wracking tie-breaker. Pragg is the first Indian to play in a World Cup final after Viswanathan Anand.

Praggnanandhaa stunned his opponent in the semi finals of the FIDE World Cup chess tournament in the  thrilling encounter of mental prowess which saw Praggnanandhaa triumph over his opponent.

Indian GM Praggnanandhaa today played his finals with Norway’s Magnus Carlsen, which ends in draw.

The time control for the game will be 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 1.

In case of draw, two tie-break games in rapid format will be played on 24.8.23 with a time control of 25 minutes + 10 seconds increment per move.

If two tie-break games do not decide winner, then players will play two more games with a time control of 10 minutes + 10 seconds increment per move .

If that also does not find a winner, there will be two more games with the time control of 5 minutes + 3 seconds increment.

If that also does not find a winner, the contest enters sudden death where a single blitz game with a time control of 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment to determine the winner. This single game will be repeated until there’s one winner.
