On National Doctors Day, daughter of Chief Minister Punjab Jai InderKaur in the presence of OSD to Chief Minister Dr. Girish Sahni, Principal Government Medical College Patiala Dr. KK Aggarwal and other senior doctors, released two scientific journals today, namely “Journal of Research and Medical Education” of Journal Club Government Medical College Patiala and “Journal of Punjab Academy of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology.” As chief guest of the release ceremony, she appreciated the doctors for their contribution in the field of health and medical education in the form of their research publications. Dr. DS Bhullar, President and Dr. Parmod Goyal, Editor-in-Chief of Punjab Academy of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology along with Dr. Gursatinder Singh, Dr. Vishal Chopra and other members of Journal Club were present during the release ceremony.

Earlier, in the morning private and government doctors assembled in the medical college under the banner of Indian Medical Association and Punjab State Medical & Dental Teachers Association and celebrated the occasion as Doctors Solidarity Day.

After tributes to Dr. B.C. Roi, medical professionals pledged to stay united to face the modern day challenges and vowed for a total medical social boycott of the people responsible for the violence, assaulting and insulting the doctors and attacking health care institutions. They also demanded for a strong law to protect the doctors from violence and punish the irresponsible and criminal people participating in such acts along with demand for a tight security in the health care institutes. The leaders also appealed to their professional colleagues to strengthen doctor patient relationship in the interest of the ailing society.

The 1st of July is marked as National Doctor’s Day in India in the memory and as a tribute to the great physician, educationalist, politician and the great social reformer, ‘Bharat Rattna’Dr. B.C. Roy whose birth day and death anniversary happens to be on this day.His contributions to medical profession and Indian Medical Association are immense, said the association leaders.
