Chief Secretary issues order to DCs to provide timely information to police officials

In continuation with the Chief Minister’s orders, if anyone is found involved in smuggling of drugs then the Police will confiscate/ attach/ freeze his property within a week, the chief secretary office has asked all the deputy commissioners of Punjab to immediately provide the details of the properties to the concerned police officials.

In a letter addressed to all the deputy commissioners with a copy to financial commissioner (revenue), administrative secretary home affairs and DGP, Punjab police the chief secretary office has asked them to provide the properties details to concerned police officials after any accused is booked under NDPS act.

A week ago, reiterating the firm commitment of the state government to check the menace of drugs in the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has chalked out a multi pronged strategy to wipe out this curse from the state.

The Chief Minister had said that the officers have been asked to transform the war against drugs into a mass movement for welfare of the state
