Children with multiple disability participated in sports meet
Under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India (Khelo India Scheme) for promotion of sports among persons with multiple Disability, Distt. Special Olympics Association, Patiala in association with DEO Patiala, District Sports officer, Patiala, Coordinator SSA Patiala & DSSo organized sports/games among various schools with special athletes and SSAs for various disciples viz. Football, Badminton, Athletics, Swimming and Bocce at Patiala .
In the events more than 180 children participated having from all disabilities . Such like events are held regularly to promote the confidence among special children that they can do what the normal persons are doing.
The fundamental difference that set special Olympics apart from other sports organization: Athletes of all ability are encouraged for participation . Every participant is decorated for his/her talent.
The ultimate goal of special Olympics is to help persons with disabilities to participate at productive and respected members o f societies, by providing them a fair opportunities to develop and demonstrate their skills and talents through sports , training and sense of competition and sensitizing the public of their capacities and needs.
The mission of special Olympics is provide year round sports training and athletes competition in a Variety of Olympics type sports for the disables giving them counting opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage , experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their family and community.
The event has been especially graced by Darshan Lal DEO(P), Sh. R K Sharma, Vice Principal, Punjab Jail Training School, Patiala and Sh. Ravinder Singh , Co-Ordinator SSA
Besides , the following persons participated under the stewardship of Col. Karaminder Singh President, Dr. Ravi Bhushan Advisor, along with a dedicated team of friends Er. Ashwani Kumar, Parmodh Gupta,Simarpreeet Singh, Pawan Goyal, Harinder Dang, Uma Shankar, Jagjeet Sareen , Kuldip Kaushal , Kamal Sharma, Dr. BS Sohal, Ms. Vilcy, Mrs. Partibia Sharma, S. K. Kochhar, H.S.Chimni, Er.Darbara Singh and J.K.Gupta.
A team of qualified coaches namely Monika, jaswinder kaur, Hardeep Kaur, Narender Kaur, Manjeet Kaur, Sangita Sharma, Kirandeep Kaur, Ena Rani, Subodh Kumar, Ishan Mata, Arif, Kamal Sharma, Balbir Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Shashi Bala, Baljeet Kaur, Veena,Rajnish Kaur, Rajinder Singh, Sandeep Singh.
