Civil surgeon makes hue and cry over police action; wrote a letter to SSP

Civil Surgeon Patiala Dr Harish Malhotra has taken up the matter of forcibly issuance of challan of Dr Haorjot Kaur, medical officer, working at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Sauja by SHO, Kotwali, Nabha, for not wearing mask, while driving a car.
SMO Bhadson raised the issue of wrongly challaning of Dr Harjot Kaur medical officer Primary Health Centre (PHC) Sauja, with the civil surgeon Patiala and civil surgeon wrote an official letter to senior superintendent of police (SSP) Patiala Mandeep Singh Sidhu, highlighting the high handedness of police for issuing wrong challan.
In a letter of SSP, civil surgeon wrote that” as per government guidelines, anybody who is not wearing a mask in a public place, is liable to pay fine for willfully disobeying the govt orders. But issuing a challan for not wearing a mask in a car is illegal, as per the guidelines. “
Dr Malhotra also wrote in the official letter “that he had been receiving receiving complaints/ verbal reports from general public about the issuing of challan by police for not wearing mask , while driving a four wheeler,which was against the guidelines issued by the Punjab Government. “ He requested the SSP to look into this matter.
