A continue medical education (CME) on “current role of surgical oncologist in surgical management” was held at Ivy hospital Hoshiarpur.

The main objective of CME was to foster collaboration and share best practices among Advanced Practice Providers (APP) working in surgical oncology by providing an educational forum that focuses on the latest advances in surgical management of solid tumors and the role of APP in clinical practice.

During CME , Brig (Dr.) Rajeshwar Singh, Director-Oncology and Dr Subh Mahindru and Dr Maninder Singh  both Oncologists spoke on various facets of surgical oncology. Leading physicians and surgeons from hospital and city were present during the occasion.
The CME provided APP learners a broad overview of surgical oncology topics, including over 30 lectures on solid tumor disease-specific topics from head-to-toe, as well as peri-operative management and APP professional roles and leadership. Additional highlights include several hands-on interactive workshops, such as beginner and intermediate suturing, imaging, and common hospital-based procedures.

The speakers described recent advances in the surgical management of solid tumors originating from the following organ and/or disease sites: brain, spine,oropharynx, thyroid, lung, breast, esophagus, colon, rectum, anus, liver, pancreas, appendix, prostate, kidney, bladder, ovary, skin, and bones .

The speakers demonstrated and performed common hospital-based procedures, including suturing, wound care, lumbar punctures, central line placement, intraosseous access, and management of various catheters utilized in the perioperative setting.
