Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Director (Administration) Jasbir Singh Sur Singh on Friday chaired a crucial meeting at Patiala to review the status of pending compassionate appointment cases across various zones. Senior representatives from the Chief Offices of all zones participated in the meeting, which focused on fast-tracking the resolution process and ensuring timely support for eligible applicants.
During the discussion, Director Sur Singh underlined the vital role of compassionate appointments in extending relief to the families of deceased employees. He urged all departments to treat these cases as a top priority, pointing out that a considerable number of vacancies are available and can be promptly filled to support deserving applicants.
He specifically instructed the Human Resource (HR) Department to take swift, coordinated steps to eliminate the backlog. “The applicants seeking compassionate appointments have shown great resilience through challenging times. It is our duty to support them by ensuring their cases are processed efficiently and they receive the opportunities they rightfully deserve,” he stated.
To ensure accountability and momentum, Director Sur Singh announced that he will personally monitor and review the progress of these cases on a daily basis. He warned all concerned officials against any form of delay or negligence, adding that strict accountability will be enforced wherever required.
He further encouraged zonal heads and HR personnel to adopt a mission-mode approach and streamline all related procedures. Emphasizing the importance of inter-departmental coordination, he said that a transparent and time-bound process must be followed to ensure that only genuine and eligible candidates are appointed in accordance with existing policies.

He also acknowledged the steadfast guidance of Punjab Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, whose commitment to employee welfare continues to inspire the organization. “Under the visionary leadership of the Power Minister, PSPCL has taken proactive steps to address critical HR matters, including compassionate appointments. His consistent emphasis on timely support to employees’ families motivates us to work with renewed dedication,” he added.
The meeting concluded with a strong collective commitment from all zonal representatives to expedite pending cases and uphold the compassionate values that PSPCL stands for.
