Construction of steel bridge on Sirhind Canal at Rupnagar completes, to be dedicated to public soon

Finally Construction of single span 4-laned 135 mtr long steel bridge on Sirhind Canal  including approaches in Rupnagar city  has been completed. It will be dedicated to public soon. Rigorous load testing is going on.

According to deputy commissioner Rupnagar Himanshu Jain the project has been sanctioned by the Government for an amount of Rs. 52.77 Crores.

The salient features of the Steel Bridge are as under: – 

Type – Network Arch Bridge

Total Project length (including roads on both sides)- 285 mtr. including 75 mtr. towards Nehru Stadium (A1 Side) & 75 mtr. towards Railway Station (A2 Side)

– Bridge length- 135 mtr. 26 mtr.

– ⁠2X2 independent carriageway 10.50 mtr. each carriageway

– ⁠Footpaths – 1.5 mtr.

⁠Hangers – High Tensile Steel Strands

– ⁠No of hangers – 72 in each span

– ⁠Modular Strip Seal Expansion Joint

⁠Road safety assessment by Experts from prestigious universities of Punjab
