Contractor alleges illegal mining by stone crusher owners in Khera Kalmot village

Mining contractor Rakesh Kumar Chaudhary has alleged that some stone crusher owners are carrying out illegal mining activities in unallotted hilly areas of village Khera Kalmot in Rupnagar district.
In a complaint submitted to deputy commission Rupnagar, copies of which were sent to director ,department of mines and geology Punjab, senior superintendent of police Rupngar, executive engineer department of mines and geology Rupnagar and DFO Rupnagar,Rakesh Kumar Chaudhary said that he was an approved and authorised government lease holder for block 1 Rupnagar.
Chaudhary said that he had come to know from reliable sources that illegal mining activities are being carried out by some stone crusher owners in unallotted hilly areas of village Khera Kalmot of block 1 of Rupnagar, which adversely affecting the flora/fauna an environment of Rupnagar district.
He said that due to this sale in his allotted sites had also reduced and this type of illegal minning is causing him trouble in working
He urged the deputy commissioner to look in to the issue on an urgent basis as he had to pay royalties to the government for the allotted site for excavation of material and take appropriate steps in this regard.
District Mining Officer Rupnagar Sartaj Singh Randhawa said that appropriate action is being taken regarding the complaint and ownership of the concerned land is being verified through tehsildar.
