Conversations with telecom inventor Sam Pitroda held at GNDU

A conversation with internationally respected telecom inventor, entrepreneur, development thinker and policymaker Sam Pitroda was organized here today in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan Auditorium of the Guru Nanak Dev University. Sam has served Information and Communication technology ( ICT )  sector for about 50 years. A large number of students and faculty were present.

Vice – Chancellor, Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu welcomed Sam and gave details about the achievements of the University. Dean Academic Affairs, Prof Dr. Sarabjot Singh Behl presented the vote of thanks. Prof. Dr. Hardeep Singh, Dean Students Welfare introduced the guest speaker with students. Registrar, Prof. Karanjit Singh Kahlon and other dignitaries were also present on this occasion.

Sam in his lecture shared the experiences of his life with students. He said that poverty could be eradicated with the help of information technology. He advised the students to work hard in their respective fields to meet the challenges in future. He said that today’s generation is much lucky to have so many facilities, as during the early days we faced many struggles. He said that students needed to update their knowledge to get better opportunities in their lives. He also replied to the queries of the students after his thought-provoking lecture.

Prof, Jaspal Singh Sandhu also honoured Sam with Fulkari, Symbol of Punjabi culture.

Sam also visited GNDU- MYAS department of Sports Science and Medicine. He appreciated the State of Art infrastructure of the department. He also intercepted with the students and staff of the department. Earlier, on reaching the Department Sam was received by Prof Dr. Shweta Shenoy, Head of Department. She also gave a detailed about the courses and facilities available in the department.
