“Corporates – Quit power sector ” power sector employees’ of Uttar Pradesh new campaign against privatisation from 8 to 15 August with extensive public relations by carrying the tricolor flags across the state will be observed on the pattern of quit India movement
The Vidyut Karamchari Joint Sangharsh Samiti has decided that during this, the general public will be made aware about the possible disadvantages of privatization. Electricity employees have announced plans to start a new campaign against privatization and oppression. It has been decided that on the eve of the “Quit India” movement, a “Quit the power sector from corporate houses and public sector” campaign will be run across the state on August 08.
The Sangharsh Samiti said that the privatisation of Purvanchal and Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam is going to hamper Prime Minister’s goal of a developed India by 2047. Private companies work only for the purpose of earning profit, which leads to increase in electricity rates. This will directly affect farmers, the poor and the middle class.
During this, the general public will be made aware of the potential losses of privatisation. The Sangharsh Samiti has demanded from the Chief Minister not to give a third extension to Power Corporation’s Finance Director.

The Sangharsh Samiti alleged that the Finance director is providing confidential documents to select corporate houses in connivance with transaction consultants. The government has termed her extension of service as improper, yet the UPPCL chairman has recommended her extension again
Even at the time of electricity privatization in Agra and Kanpur, the losses of Agra and Kanpur were shown to be exaggerated. This has been disclosed in the CAG report about Agra. It alleged that the private company was given benefits. Despite this, the Power Corporation management did not take any concrete steps to cancel the electricity contract of Agra.
V K Gupta informed that UP power employees have been agitating continuously for the last 253 days under adverse circumstances despite large scale victimisation.
