Keeping in view the prevailing uncertain situation of COVID-19 spread, and in the interest of final year student’s career, the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) provides their students with an option to appear in Final Semester Exams from their homes through online mode. Along with this, the university for the very first time is offering students the freedom to choose exam dates, & time slots (out of available slots) to appear in a particular examination. As per CUPB Examination Branch, the University’s Academic Council has decided to conduct Final Semester Online Exam to avoid delay in completion of the examination process.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. R.K. Kohli said that, according to the University Grants Commission guidelines, the CUPB Examination Branch will hold Final Semester Examination, starting from July 6, with these novel initiatives to reduce stress on students. He added, CUPB will only release the examination schedule & students will have the flexibility to choose exam dates, & time slots. Prof Kohli stated, to avoid the possibility of repetition of questions, the University’s in-house Exam-System will automatically choose questions randomly for each exams on different days.

CUPB Registrar & Control of Examination, Kanwal Pal Singh Mundra informed that University would conduct a mock examination on June 19, 2020, to enable students to check internet connectivity & ease of appearing in End Semester Exams. He added, that University will offer two exam time-slots in a day, and total 140 students can appear for the exam in one slot at a time. Mundra mentioned that those students who would not be able to appear in Online Final Semester Exam for any valid reasons, as per exam-schedule released by the CUPB, they may appear in their respective exam on the campus after the normalization of the situation and after the opening of University. He also cited that \the University shall not wait for declaring the result of Final Semester Exams (Online) on account of such students who would not take the exams because of any valid reasons.

He mentioned, CUPB has adopted the practice to declare final exam results within one week of completion of exam-process and this year our Examination Branch will try to announce results of ESE within three days after the exam schedule to save student’s time. ‘These positive reforms of CUPB will help our students to manage exam-related stress, will allow them the ease of           appearing in examination amid COVID-19 pandemic, and will benefit them in a situation when the dates of other competition exams/tests clash with University’s Academic Schedule’, said Mundra.
