CUPB VC holds meeting with Afghan students

In view of the current crisis situation prevailing in Afghanistan Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice Chancellor of Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB), met with Afghan students studying in various programmes of the university in the presence of Prof. Vinod K. Garg, Dean Student Welfare, and Karuna Tiwari, the first lady of the university, to address the worries of Afghan students and to assure them of necessary support and care.

During this meeting, students from Afghanistan spoke about the current situation in their country and said that they are deeply concerned as they are unable to contact their families during these difficult times. They shared their concerns regarding visa extension, ICCR scholarship, hostel accommodation and financial issues etc. Students mentioned that their classmates who went back home to Afghanistan during semester break also wanted to come back.

CUPB VC holds meeting with Afghan students

Currently, around 16 Afghan students are studying in the university. In addition to this, 11 students from Afghanistan have taken admissions in CUPB in the AY 2021-22.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Tiwari stated that the university is concerned about the problems of our Afghan students and is with them during this tough time. While motivating the students, he assured them that the university will extend maximum help and assistance to them and the whole CUPB fraternity stands in solidarity with our Afghan students. He urged students to feel comfortable in the peaceful and safe environment of university campus.

Prof. Vinod K. Garg, Dean Student Welfare told the Afghan students that their problems have been listed by the university authorities and all possible help will be provided to them.
