Deputy Commissioner Patiala, Sakshi Sawhney, appealed to the residents to keep their Aadhaar information updated. This can be done by submitting latest Proof of Identity (POI) /Proof of Address (POA) documents at nearest Aadhaar enrolment center. Residents need to revalidate their information by submitting required documents, even though there is no change in their demographic data. If mobile number is registered in Aadhaar, resident can avail this service on-line by logging in at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/. As Aadhaar has emerged as most widely accepted proof of Identity with provision to identify a resident with biometric authentication and is being used to avail numerous government services/benefits, residents are urged to keep their Aadhaar updated.
‘Government had launched Aadhaar nearly 12 years ago. Many citizens have changed their address in these years and have updated their Aadhaar cards, however, there are some who haven’t done it yet; hence, we appeal to all residents to upload their documents as Aadhaar is being used at various places and it is very important to keep it updated.
UIDAI had introduced a new functionality of document update in Aadhaar through the document update feature, which was accessible online through myAadhaar portal or at any Aadhaar enrolment centre.
DC also urged all the departmental officials to verify the Aadhaar, before accepting it as a proof of identity as it would help in identifying fake/photoshopped Aadhaar cards
