DC Patiala issues order on Blackout, cinemas halls, shopping malls, use of Inverter, Generator, fire crackers, DJ Lights etc

Deputy Commissioner-cum-district Magistrate Patiala Dr Preeti Yadav issued new ORDERs UNDER SECTION 163 OF BHARTIYA NAGRIK SURKSHA SANHITA 2023. She said that In view of the prevailing circumstances and intelligence inputs indicating a potential air strike threat from Pakistan, complete blackout may be required during the night hours to safeguard public safety and strategic interests.
She further added that and whereas, use of inverter, Generator and any other power backup used for outdoor lights, bill board, street lights, Solar lights etc. may invite any terror/drone attack in District Patiala.
And considering the current situation between India and Pakistan, it has also become necessary to close public places such as cinemas and shopping malls for the safety of the general public and protection of life and property, so that any future threat can be avoided.
District Magistrate, therefore, in exercise of the powers vested to the her under section 163 of Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanita 2023, declared the restrictions,
Total ban on the use of Inverter, Generator and any other power backup used for outdoor lights, bill board, street lights etc. and on use of Solar lights in case of blackout operations in District Patiala till further orders.
All cinemas halls, shopping malls shall remain closed from sunset to sunrise i.e. 08:00 PM to 06:00 AM) in District Patiala till further orders.

The DM also issued ban orders on use of fire crackers and long beam laser/DJ Lights specially during evening hours.
She further stated that In evening hours, residents are requested not to leave their houses unless, urgent. If any siren/signal is sounded, the public should immediately follow the instructions issued by the Government from time to time. The Public shall minimize the illumination in general.
She said that this order shall not be applicable to Law enforcement agencies including Police, Para-Military. Air Force, S.P.G. personnel and persons authorized by competent Government authority and also on hospitals and emergency services etc.
These orders will remain in force w.e.f. 09.05.2025 till further orders.
District Magistrate said that in view of the emergent situation and shortage of time, this order is being issued ex-parte and is addressed to the public in general. Any breach of this order would invite action under Section 223 of Bhartiva Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and other relevant provisions.
Any person found guilty of violation of this order shall be prosecuted and punished as per law under section 223 of the BNS 2023, orders stated.
