DC urges citizens to keep Patiala Clean and Green; inspects MRF, Garbage Dump and Sewage Treatment Plant

Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, Patiala Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav visited the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) of the Municipal Corporation at the Focal Point, where wet and dry waste is segregated. She also inspected the garbage dump and the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), urging residents to cooperate with the administration in reducing waste and ensuring environmentally sound waste disposal practices.

Dr. Yadav emphasized that every citizen must take responsibility for reducing waste at the source, ensuring 100% segregation of wet and dry waste, and recycling reusable materials. She said that by following these steps, Patiala can achieve its goal of becoming a clean and green, garbage-free city. She also encouraged residents to contribute by planting saplings.

The Deputy Commissioner Patiala Dr. Preeti Yadav directed the Municipal Corporation to fully utilize the 10-tonne-per-day capacity of the MRF and the plastic recycling facility at the Focal Point. She stressed the importance of collecting waste separately in accordance with the National Green Tribunal’s guidelines to prevent waste accumulation. Dr. Yadav also called for the MRF to be operated more efficiently to handle the city’s waste in an environmentally friendly manner.

During her visit to the dump site on Sanour Road, Dr. Yadav instructed the Municipal Corporation to expedite the disposal of accumulated garbage. She also reviewed the sewage treatment process at the STP, expressing satisfaction with the quality of the treated water.

Present during the visit were ADC Urban Development Navreet Kaur Sekhon, Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Babandeep Singh Walia, Superintendent Engineer Harkiran Singh, Chief Sanitary Inspector Sanjeev Kumar, and other officials.
