Delhi get its 4th woman chief minister

BJP legislators under the leadership of party high command has selected Rekha Gupta, MLA from Shalimar Bagh as it’s leader to take the reins of Delhi as next chief minister.  She will take oath on February 20 in a grand ceremony at the Ramlila Maidan.

Rekha Gupta, 51 years, is the 4th woman chief minister of Delhi. Earlier Sushma Swaraj, Sheila Dixit and Atishi remained the women chief ministers of National Capital.The saffron party returned to power in the national capital after 27 years.

The BJP has picked Rekha Gupta, a three-time councillor, as the Chief Minister of Delhi. Before that Gupta, started her political career with the Delhi University Students Union elections. She was elected as the President of Delhi University Students’ Union in the year 1996 and held the post till 1997.

BJP leaders have said that the entire cabinet will also be sworn in along with the chief minister on Thursday. The ceremony is expected to begin at 11 am. Lt Governor VK Saxena will administer the oath of office to Rekha Gupta and the cabinet at 12.35 pm on February 20,2025.

The BJP scored a historic victory in the assembly elections held earlier this month, winning 48 of the 70 assembly seats.

Delhi get its 4th woman chief minister  and Parvesh Verma is elected as the deputy chief minister of Delhi.

Rekha Gupta was born in Julana, Haryana on 19 July 1974. She graduated from Daulat Ram College under Delhi University and completed LLB from IMIRC College of Law Bhaina, Ghaziabad under Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut in 2022.
