Department of Zoology and Environmental Sciences, Punjabi University, Patiala organized Bird Watching programme in the university campus on 11th November, 2025 from 6.30 AM to 8.30 AM.

Punjabi University Campus is very rich from avifauna point of view. Dr. Onkar Singh Brraich, Head of the department said that almost 37 bird species have been recorded during this event which prominently include Grey Hornbill, Flameback Woodpecker, Black Kite, Hoopoe, Grey Francolin, Brown headed Barbet, Grey Heron, Spotbill Duck. Common Moorhen, Blackwinged Stilit, Greater Caucal, Rose Ringed Parakeet, Crimson Breasted Barbet, Tailor Bird, etc.

Students have shown their keen interest in identification, habitat and behavior of different birds. It was very fruitful and academically rich event.

Dr. Abhinav Saxena was organizing Secretary of this programme. Almost 100 students, bird enthusiasts and teachers participated in this morning bird watching.  Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh appreciated the department for successfully organizing this event
