Desh Bhagat University Organized Anti-Tobacco Rally

Department of Social Sciences and Languages at Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh organized an Anti-Tobacco Rally in nearby areas to spread awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco on health. The rally was flagged off by Dr. Virinder Singh, Vice Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University. Dr. Virinder Singh congratulated the department for organising such event. He emphasized that the need is to create awareness among the masses about the hazards of tobacco consumption. He added that “Tobacco consumption is a major cause of preventable deaths worldwide. We need to educate people about the harmful effects of tobacco and encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.”
Dr. Davinder Kumar, Director, Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages, in his address highlighted the role of educational institutions in promoting a healthy lifestyle. He said that “As a responsible educational institution, it is our duty to create awareness about the ill-effects of tobacco and encourage our students to adopt a healthy lifestyle. We hope that this rally will inspire others to join the cause and work towards a tobacco-free society”
The rally covered nearby areas, and participants distributed pamphlets and flyers to create awareness about the hazards of tobacco consumption. The rally concluded with a pledge to continue the fight against tobacco and promote a healthier lifestyle.
