Desh Bhagat Dental College and Hospital (DBDCH) a constituent of Desh Bhagat University (DBU) and took a step forward against Tobacco Addiction by establishing Tobacco Cessation Center.

Tobacco Cessation center will not only guide the addicts of Tobacco for de addiction but will also encourage the people to start battle against tobacco products, informed Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor DBU.

The Tobacco Cessation Centre established at Dental College was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Rajiv Bhalla (Ex DHS). He congratulated the entire team of DBU for this noble cause and also highlighted different sections of law related to Tobacco Control. He told that this initiative of Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology of Dental College will go a long way in Tobacco Control in this area.

Dr. Navjot Kaur, DHO (Fatehgarh Sahib) was the Guest of Honour at this occasion. She appreciated the DBU’s move against tobacco and hoped that this centre will prove a blessing for the Tobacco Addicts and it will save lives of many. She told that this is first Tobacco Cessation Center in distict Fatehgarh Sahib. Vice Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh congratulated the team of DBDCH and said that we would always support this center and help in all possible way.

Giving more details Dental College Principal Dr. Rajiv Bali said during the event Dr. Rajbir Kaur Grewal (Reader, Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology) enlightened the audience about various aspects of Tobacco Cessation Centre including Counseling, Advice and Pharmacological management. The event also witnessed Poster, Slogan and Logo competition for BDS students. The winners were acknowledged with merit certificate and trophy.  Tobacco and Oral Cancer Awareness pamphlets were released on the occasion, Dr. Bali added.

At the end, Pro Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur proposed vote of thanks and appreciated all the guests for sparing their valuable time for this noble cause. Parminder Singh Mass Media Officer, HoD’s and Faculty members were also present at the occasion.
