Vaidya Vandana Vats/ November 10,2023
Greetings for 8th National Ayurveda Day, ( Dhanvantari Day) on November 10,2023. This year National Ayurveda Theme is -“AYURVEDA FOR EVERYONE ON EVERYDAY”
*आयुश्च वेदः इति उच्यते आयुर्वेदः*
Ayurveda, the science of life is an ancient age old wisdom and traditional medical system that uses a holistic approach to improve physical, mental and emotional health of an individual.
Ayurveda for everyone on every day, the main aim is to maintain an equilibrium between body, mind , soul and to develop immunity for fighting against diseases.
*स्वस्थस्य स्वास्थ्य रक्षणं, आतुरस्य विकार प्रशमनम् च*
The definition of Health as defined by WHO is ” Health is a state of complete physical, mental , social well being and not merely the absence of disease. This is already mentioned in ancient ayurvedic texts 5000yrs back in a shloka.
*समदोषः समाग्निश्च समधातु मलःक्रियाः*।*प्रसन्नात्मेन्द्रियमनः स्वस्थइतिअभिधीयते!*
Ayurveda has already mentioned the holistic health and life style management. Every life on earth is a miniature version of external cosmos, the atmosphere.
*यत् पिण्डं तत् ब्रह्माण्डें यत् ब्रह्माण्डें तत् पिण्डे*
Body is made up of panchtatva, (prithvi, jal, vayu, aagni, aakash,) same as in the universe. These panchtatva combine differently to form Vaat, Pitta and Kapha, the three basic building blocks of body. The equilibrium of all is the Health and vitiation of any one of them is the disease.
For everyone’s good health ayurveda emphasizes on following strong points (pillars of health) to follow everyday.
*Right food –आहार*( seasonal fruits and vegetables, taking small quantities of food, never eat without hunger, )
*Right sleep –निद्रा*(early to bed and 6hr sleep, this helps to utilize body energy for healing , repairing and regenerating cells of body)
*Right exercise– व्यायाम* ( always do exercise to half of your body strength and seasons)
*Yoga– योग*(best way to connect inner conscious with higher conscious, pranayam, breathing exercises)
*Stress management –मानसिक स्वास्थ्य* ( to carry forward the hobbies that nurture your soul like reading, gardening, cooking, socializing etc)
*Detoxification —शोधन* (लंघन Or Upvaas is to detoxify our body atleast once a week is good)
*Right conduct सद्वृत पालन* (social interactions with your knowledge, friendship, donation, mercy, happiness and ignorance for unpleasent things.)
