Following his father and Rajya Sabha MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa footsteps, who rebelled against the top Akali leadership, former Punjab Finance Minister and his son Parminder Singh Dhindsa resigned from the post of the leader of the SAD legislative party, on Friday.
Senior Akali leader Daljit Singh Cheema said the former finance minister, who was appointed the leader of legislative party in August last year, had not given any reason for his resignation and party president Sukhbir Singh Badal accepted the one-line resignation of Parminder Singh Dhindsa, a two-time finance minister, in Parkash Singh Badal led SAD-BJP government on Friday.
Immediately after accepting the resignation of Parminder Singh Dhindsa, closed lieutenant of party supremo Sukhbir Singh Badal and former minister and current SAD Sahnewal MLA Sharanjit Singh Dhillon replaced him.
Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, will now be the new leader of the SAD legislative party in the state assembly, said Sukhbir Singh Badal in a statement here.
Rajya Sabha MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa had opened a front against the party leadership, especially its chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, in a bid to “liberate” the SAD from the Badal family and “revive its lost glory”.
Parminder Singh Dhindsa also remained absent during the election of party president which was held last month, in which Sukhbir Singh Badal was reelected party president, but Badal had then said that he had taken permission from him to go to Mumbai for an urgent work.
Its not a good sign as Dhindsa’s-father take precedence, son followed his footsteps; 2020 started with a bang for SAD.
