Dire need of stemming the exodus of the younger generation to other countries

A “Four Week General Orientation Programme-107” concluded at the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) of the University. As many as 40 University & College teachers pertaining to heterogeneity of disciplines from Punjab and far flung states of the country participated in it.

Prof. Subodh Kumar, Deptt. of Chemistry, a renowned academician and former Dean, Academic Affairs, GNDU, Amritsar presided over the valedictory session.

“The challenges before the teaching fraternity keep on changing in consonance with the requirements of the society with the passage of time”, he opined.

One of the herculean challenges before them in the current scenario is to attract the students towards the higher education in the country, he emphasized. Expressing his deep concern at the dwindling enrollment of students in higher education across the country, he stressed on the dire need of stemming the exodus of the younger generation to other countries for higher education, thereby causing a massive loss of foreign exchange in addition to the brain drain. Secondly, he laid emphasis on engagement of teachers on the massive scale in the research activities.

Concluding his address, he urged them to pursue authentic research not only in their own discipline, but also in collaboration with the others. Prof. Adarsh Pal Vig, Director of the Centre expressed his profound pleasure over the successful completion of the Programme and felicitated the participants on this occasion to be the messenger of this Centre. The participants of the Programme expressed their deep gratitude to the entire team (Teaching and Non-Teaching) of the HRDC for the hassle free organization of the course and made a few constructive comments.  Earlier the Chief Guest was accorded a welcome by presenting a sapling by Prof. Adarsh Pal Vig & Dr. Mohan Kumar. At the end the certificates were distributed to the successful participants by the Chief Guest.
