Distt administration motivating Persons with Disabilities to vote: DC Bathinda

To ensure maximum participation of voters in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the District Administration Bathinda is making large scale efforts. Election commission has put special efforts to motivate PwD (Persons with disabilities) voters to cast their vote on poll day.
Divulging further detail, District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner B. Srinivasan stated that a total of 9681 PwD voters have been registered in district Bathinda. He said that efforts are being made to ensure maximum participation of these voters in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He also informed that they are taking every step to make sure PwD voters do not face any problem to cast their vote.
B. Srinivasan said that the district administration has already procured complete booth level data of all PwD voters, and volunteers would be deputed to assist them on polling day. He said that wheelchair facility would be provided free of cost to these voters, besides ramp, waiting area, help desk and several other facilities would also be provided at all polling stations. He informed that the PwD voters would not have to wait in line to cast their vote as they would be given special treatment at the polling station. He said that India is the biggest democracy of the world, where every person has an equal right to vote. He urged all the voters to exercise their right to vote in a free and fair manner without any fear.
How PWD app works
Deputy Commissioner said that a special mobile application ‘PWD app’ has been launched by ECI, where the PwD voters would be able to apply for various facilities. He said that PwD voter could download PWD App from Google play store from their android phone. He said that Pwd Voter could register them at this app and we will provide all assistance to them on the poll day so that they can cast their vote hassle free. He said that PwD voters may request for wheel chair via app. PwD voters may register complaints, search polling station and polling officials.
